Mr. Tom Goodchild established the Sawmill Restaurant Group in November of 1976, and over the years, the Sawmill has grown with the city. You will find Mr. Goodchild actively involved in our day to day operations.
We are an Edmonton based company operating fully licensed food and beverage operations in Edmonton.
The main ingredients to the Goodchild success formula are the dedication to and insistence on delivery of top quality products with exemplary service. This philosophy has become the cornerstone of the Sawmill Group's tradition. Famous for our 28-day aged Certified Angus Beef, the varied selections on our menu are sure to please everyone.
The opportunity to have our Culinary Team explore their potential beyond our standard menu is important as they grow within our organization. We are pleased to showcase their culinary talent and have won many competitions over the years.
Every year we participate in Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s “FEASTival of Fine Chefs”. As a fundraiser for their Chef’s Apprenticeship Program, participating dining establishments are given a “mystery food hamper” 24 hours in advance. With only these items (different for each participant) the objective is to create a four-course gourmet meal for approximately 60 guests. The Sawmill is always among the best in taste and presentation.

The Sawmill Restaurant Group maintains membership in a number of industry related organizations, including Edmonton Tourism, Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, Alberta Restaurant & Food Association, Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs, Canadian Food & Restaurant Association and Alberta Tourism Education Council. We strongly support culinary and apprenticeship programs in the province and are members of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) Program Advisor Committee. We encourage management from our stores to work with the business associations in their respective neighbourhoods.
